Dangerous Chewing 

A dog who presented with unhealthy and dangerous eating habits, socks , shoes , toothbrushes in fact anything that belonged to family members. To address any behaviour issues starts with understanding what causes the behaviour. Chewing items that have a strong smell of their human family is giving a sense of security to the dog. This would not be a behaviour to stop but change because digesting these objects is incredible dangerous for the dog’s physical wellbeing. The emotional need of the dog is driving the behaviour. A resolve is to buy a robust dog toy as indestructible dog toys do not actually exist. Then each member of the family sleeps with the toy for a couple of nights each then give the toy to the dog now covered in the small of all the family and a much safer pacifier.  

 Household Appliance Fear

Any fear is a result of a negative association to something. A dog who has a fear of the dishwasher and will run from the room. At some point the dishwasher has cause the dog a fright, this could have been the sudden pop open at the cycle end, or a sudden loud noise when the dog wasn’t expecting so the dog now has a fear of the machine. In situations of negative association, we need to create a positive association. Treats could be used as a good positive reinforcement, whenever the dishwasher is in use the dog receives a treat , maybe even pull a hidden treat from with in the machine , this process will take numerous times to achieve the desired result.
